Safe or Secure?

Événement

As age verification requirements expand around the world—from social media and AI chatbots to online gaming and adult websites—an important question remains: How can we protect children online without compromising privacy and digital rights? Join us for the launch of Safe or Secure? Decoding Age Verification in the Digital Era , a new book by Azfar Adib that explores one of today's most pressing digital policy challenges from a holistic perspective. Drawing on his research at Concordia University, as well as his longstanding public and policy engagement on this issue, Azfar Adib traces the evolution, opportunities and challenges surrounding age verification technologies, standards, regulations and most importantly, their role in advancing online safety. The event will feature an overview of the book, followed by a discussion with invited experts and an interaction with the audience. Together, we will explore how technology, ethics, and public policy can work together to build a more trusted digital future. How can you participate? Join us in-person or online by registering for the Zoom Meeting or watching live on YouTube . CULTURE MONTRÉAL EN CARTE

About this map

Montréal has a rich cultural offering, but information is scattered across websites, social networks, noticeboards and posters. Getting an overview can be difficult. Montréal en culture aims to simplify discovery by bringing cultural activities together in all their variety. The project is also inspired, with some nostalgia, by the weekly calendar of the cultural magazine View, which featured a varied offering, from shows to talks and from popular events to more unconventional activities. Adding a map, Montréal en culture invites you to explore that richness across the city. Still a prototype, this independent project aims to become an essential reference for cultural outings in Montréal.

The site was originally designed for desktop use. A mobile interface is now available.

A broad understanding of culture

The directory takes a broad view of culture: artistic creation, presentation, heritage, knowledge sharing, and opportunities for discovery or participation. It covers the Montréal urban agglomeration, including its associated islands. Its scope develops with the sources and activities recorded.
