Indigenous perspectives on land stewardship: who makes decisions about the future of our territories?

Événement

Across Quebec, discussions about natural resource exploitation have revealed tensions between economic growth, environmental stewardship, and Indigenous Peoples’ rights. Different projects have sparked public debate, with some being opposed over sustainability concerns and others raising questions about governance, consent, and the role of Indigenous Nations in shaping the future of their territories. In this conversation, we will listen to Indigenous perspectives on environment protection, and we will ask ourselves how can we influence environmental decisions? What roles do Indigenous communities play in protecting territories and the environment? What mechanisms can be used to protect unceded territories? CULTURE MONTRÉAL EN CARTE

About this map

Montréal has a rich cultural offering, but information is scattered across websites, social networks, noticeboards and posters. Getting an overview can be difficult. Montréal en culture aims to simplify discovery by bringing cultural activities together in all their variety. The project is also inspired, with some nostalgia, by the weekly calendar of the cultural magazine View, which featured a varied offering, from shows to talks and from popular events to more unconventional activities. Adding a map, Montréal en culture invites you to explore that richness across the city. Still a prototype, this independent project aims to become an essential reference for cultural outings in Montréal.

The site was originally designed for desktop use. A mobile interface is now available.

A broad understanding of culture

The directory takes a broad view of culture: artistic creation, presentation, heritage, knowledge sharing, and opportunities for discovery or participation. It covers the Montréal urban agglomeration, including its associated islands. Its scope develops with the sources and activities recorded.
