Immigration, Settlement, Belonging: Navigating Institutions in a Colonial Context
Activity and venue descriptions are provided in their original language.
Événement
Immigration is often discussed through policies, statistics, borders, and politics. But what happens when we shift the focus to the people behind the headlines? This panel brings together immigrants with diverse migration experiences - including refugees, expatriates, international students, settlers, and others - to share their stories, perspectives, and reflections. Together, we’ll explore questions of belonging, identity, home, privilege, displacement, colonial histories, and encounters with Canadian institutions. Rather than seeing “the immigrant” as a single experience, this conversation invites us to consider the many ways people move, settle, belong, and make sense of home. Come listen, reflect, and engage with the lived experiences behind the migration debate. We are looking for panelists and audience members! Please reach out. --- This event is offered as part of the Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance 's EmpowerGrad programming in collaboration with Resisting Colonizations .
