Gender-based violence: how can we reimagine prevention, safety, and justice?

Événement

Gender-based violence (GBV) refers to harmful acts directed at individuals based on their gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. GBV encompasses a wide range of physical, psychological, sexual, and economic forms of harm. It disproportionately impacts disabled and Deaf women, girls and gender-diverse people, yet their experiences remain underrepresented in research and policy. Both DAWN Canada and the community-university research project, Transformation Hub , have been exploring topics of gender-based violence and producing accessible resources to help us better understand what it is, who is impacted, and how we can respond to it. With these teams we will explore our role in creating and implementing innovative prevention approaches. Join us to explore what is gender-based violence? How does a disability lens enhance the conversation? In what ways do we think about safety, security, and justice when gender and disability are both a part of the conversation? Guests: Moderator: Accessibility notice: We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable everyone to participate fully. This venue is wheelchair accessible with an access ramp to enter the building and an elevator to access the suite’s floor. For inquiries about accessibility, please send an email to communityengagement@concordia.ca at least one week before the event. CULTURE MONTRÉAL EN CARTE

About this map

Montréal has a rich cultural offering, but information is scattered across websites, social networks, noticeboards and posters. Getting an overview can be difficult. Montréal en culture aims to simplify discovery by bringing cultural activities together in all their variety. The project is also inspired, with some nostalgia, by the weekly calendar of the cultural magazine View, which featured a varied offering, from shows to talks and from popular events to more unconventional activities. Adding a map, Montréal en culture invites you to explore that richness across the city. Still a prototype, this independent project aims to become an essential reference for cultural outings in Montréal.

The site was originally designed for desktop use. A mobile interface is now available.

A broad understanding of culture

The directory takes a broad view of culture: artistic creation, presentation, heritage, knowledge sharing, and opportunities for discovery or participation. It covers the Montréal urban agglomeration, including its associated islands. Its scope develops with the sources and activities recorded.
