Art Mûr presents Jessica Houston, Ginette Legaré & Brigitte Radecki

Exposition

The celebrations continue this fall with the launch of the new cultural season. Art Mûr is pleased to present the remarkable work of three women artists , Jessica Houston , Ginette Legaré and Brigitte Radecki , as part of the gallery’s 30th anniversary celebrations . The three projects will be presented across the gallery’s three floors from September 12 to October 31, 2026. A member of the Art Mûr roster for more than 10 years, Jessica Houston has travelled to the polar regions since 2008, bringing her experiences to the public through photography, painting, oral narratives and objects. In doing so, she sheds light on the connections between nature and culture. Her work explores intimate subjectivities that enrich the memory of places. The agency of ice is central to her practice, with her collaboration with nature taking centre stage. She also challenges the terms “explorer” and “explored.” Her recent project, Water, Water, Everywhere | Nor Any Drop to Drink , explores the connections between ecological precarity, colonial legacies and self-organizing systems. Brigitte Radecki , a German-Quebec artist, first collaborated with Art Mûr in 2010. Fold Repeat #2 follows Montagne de soleil, presented at Art Mûr in March 2025. Painting has been Radecki’s primary artistic practice for more than forty years. Developed through overlapping series, her work has been influenced by literature, her everyday life, and a deep appreciation for the immediacy and sensuality of modernist painting. The titles of her works reflect a growing concern with the state of the environment. The exhibition’s title, Fold Repeat #2 , refers to Radecki’s working method while offering a glimpse into the conceptual depth of the resulting paintings. Ginette Legaré joined the gallery’s roster in 2022. Her artistic practice explores the instrumental and documentary possibilities offered by recycled objects, particularly their ability to embody, shift or suggest meaning. In Triangulations , her mixed-media constructions and installations explore the social, cultural and perceptual contexts that shape these objects’ relationships with materiality. Although each artist has developed a distinct approach and technique, they share a common thread: an awareness of the state of the environment and the world around us. These three exhibitions will captivate audiences while creating opportunities to reflect on the fleeting nature of the present.
